Girls Embracing Mothers Project
UWF circles from First United Methodist Church Plano came together and donated items for birthday boxes for the daughters involved in the GEM Project (Girls Embracing Mothers - https://girlsembracingmothers.org). The group’s mission is to empower girls in grades K-12 with mothers in prison to break the cycle of incarceration and lead successful lives with vision and purpose. Kristy Boog-Scott and Michelle Schroeder recently inventoried and boxed-up all the wonderful donations. Kristy spearheaded this effort and was overwhelmed with the outpouring of support. Included in their donation were heavy-duty boxes. The boxes will be decorated by the incarcerated mothers. This program is located in Dallas. The GEM founder, Brittany K. Barnett, will be the guest speaker at the UWF North Texas Conference 50 Year Celebration on Saturday, October 21st at FUMC Dallas.
